Wednesday, June 25, 1:15pm
For VC colleagues, no fee for registration. NIIMBL is uniquely positioned to lower the inherent risks associated with early-stage venture investment through its project calls. A NIIMBL project award to an SMM member represents considerable due diligence, market validation and technology assessment to gauge the scientific risk and market potential. A successfully executed project has potential to move the respective SMM’s technology closer to commercialization and provide a real-world assessment of fit and risks.
This two-part pitch session will include 1) SMMs pitching their platform technology and company profile in a short, 3-minute 1 slide introduction that shares details on the innovation and how it addresses bottlenecks in biomanufacturing complex biotherapeutics; and 2) venture capitalists (VC) responding with feedback on the technical and commercial viability of the biomanufacturing platform, on ways to refine their value proposition, and on how to focus on high-impact applications addressing recognized pitfalls in biomanufacturing processes.
In order to optimize partnership opportunities, NIIMBL has invited SMM members with commercialization-ready technologies to pitch their innovations to venture capitalists and corporate venture who have a strategic remit to invest in biomanufacturing platforms which offer tangible improvements in manufacturing complex biologic therapies by addressing the bottlenecks and inefficiencies of current outdated processes.
While this is not a funding event, this is a rare opportunity for SMM participants to build investor relationships, gain feedback on business and technology viability, understand funding stages and milestones and prepare for future investor engagement as they de-risk their technology through NIIMBL. Engaging early allows our SMM entrepreneurs to refine their business models, understand market interest, and identify manufacturing readiness level milestones which would attract investors.
This session will be of interest to a broad audience. Small to mid-size industry members in early-stage development or those approaching technical validation through NIIMBL, will benefit from hearing both the pitches and feedback. Large industry and Corporate Venture members will get a glimpse into promising new technologies that comprise the pipeline of innovation at NIIMBL.
*An SMM is defined as any industry with less than 500 employees.
