NEWARK, Del., August 3, 2026 — The National Institute for Innovation in Manufacturing Biopharmaceuticals (NIIMBL) is pleased to announce Project Call 10.1 for technology and workforce development projects. NIIMBL expects to launch a combined $8 million of project activities to address U.S. competitiveness in biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
Concept submissions are due September 9, 2026, at 5 pm ET. Submitters must be NIIMBL members.
Project Call 10.1 focuses on platform technologies that enhance manufacturing flexibility, strengthen process understanding, and enable intelligent, data‑driven operations. Priority technical topics include:
- Intelligent Biomanufacturing Through Artificial Intelligence, Digitalization, and Advanced Process Control
- Advanced Process Analytics, Product Quality, and Real-Time Manufacturing Control
- Advanced Manufacturing Platforms and Process Intensification
- Platform Technologies for Emerging and Next-Generation Biotherapeutics
- Transformative Platform Technologies for the Future Biomanufacturing Enterprise
Workforce topic areas support projects that strengthen workforce readiness, address emerging skill requirements, and foster collaboration across the talent development landscape. These topics include:
- Catalyzing Cross‑Regional Workforce Development Solutions
- Workforce Development for Advanced Therapeutic Modalities
- Developing a Digitally Fluent Biomanufacturing Workforce
Through NIIMBL Project Calls, members collaborate on cutting-edge technology and workforce initiatives that advance biopharmaceutical manufacturing, support national security, and help to expand access to life‑saving therapies.
