The biopharmaceutical manufacturing industry is experiencing unprecedented growth, with the global market projected to exceed $570 billion by 2032. However, workforce shortages present a critical challenge, with the sector facing a projected 35% talent deficit by 2030.
This proposal outlines a strategic initiative, "A Day in the Life," to address the talent gap through an engaging six-video series that educates, inspires, and prepares the next generation of biopharma professionals. By leveraging industry partnerships, storytelling, and career guidance, this project will create a sustainable, scalable workforce development tool benefiting the NIIMBL community and the broader biopharmaceutical ecosystem.
Project will create a day in the life videos featuring biopharmaceutical professionals from different backgrounds, providing students and early-career professionals with relatable role models, inspiring broader participation in biopharma careers
The project will increase accessibility to career pathways in biomanufacturing and boost enrollment in biopharma workforce programs by offering insight into industry expectations and emerging opportunities
The project will bridge the gap by offering clear, structured guidance on career progression, making biopharmaceutical careers more transparent and attainable.
Humanizing the workforce— highlighting scientists and operators developing and producing treatments, technicians ensuring product safety, and regulatory professionals maintaining compliance—this initiative aims to reshape public sentiment with young adults about the industry. By revealing the careers as accessible and relatable, a goal of this project is to change public perception with young adults of the industry and increase recruitment of talent to these rewarding careers.
Development of a six-part “A Day in the Life” video series showcasing diverse professionals in biopharmaceutical manufacturing roles (e.g., scientists, bioprocessing technicians, quality control analysts). These videos will provide authentic storytelling about career pathways, job responsibilities, and industry contributions, with supplemental short clips optimized for social media and educational platforms.
